NID Vijayawada The National Institute of Design, Andhra Pradesh, was formed in September 2015 as the second independent design institute under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), which falls under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of the Government of India. NID AP was established in compliance with the Government of India and the National Design Policy, following the five-decade legacy of the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad.

Vision: NID-AP envisions an education that is self-actualizing, critical, and responsive to India, for the nation it is. To create a practice led by research and empathy, which when aided by potent tools, systematically brings about creativity, innovation, and the enduring skill of decision making. Eventually, to make a ripple out-turn on leading industries like Healthcare, Transportation, Defence, Education, Energy, and likewise.

Mission:To realize our vision, we intend to sensitize our students to factors of influence like the greater vision, the systemic wave of changes, environmental relevance, life cycle circuit, and socio-cultural relevance. To equip them with prime tools like design thinking, cross-collaborations, technology, and multi-disciplinary labs so they unfold to be the new age designers who simply make the earth a better place to live in.
